BM715 Auto Box
I’m looking for an Automatic Gearbox (with its’ Torque Converter) for a 1999 2.5TD AWD. Gearbox code: BM715.
I’m in the Np13 area of South Wales and also looking for any advice where to get a gearbox, who can fit it and how to get my van there!

Re: BM715 Auto Box
Someone else will know better than me for fitting etc but there are a few Bongo autoboxes on ebay (or was a few days ago).
Does the whole thing really need doing or is there a chance that it could be reconditioned by an autobox specialist? Alacrity here is the master of Bongo autoboxes if he is online!

Re: BM715 Auto Box
I’ve zero knowledge of automatic transmissions.
After doing a forum search, It seems refurbishment is the most expensive option, replacing with a 2nd hand unit seems the most wallet friendly option. Though a quote I received from BongoSpares of £825 plus £200 fitting seems excessive.

Re: BM715 Auto Box
As an update. I had my 4x4 auto box replaced by Autocraft of Cardiff. Absolutely top notch friendly service, arranged for the Bongo to be transported the 25 miles to their knowledgeable garage.
Much cheaper than my quote from Bongo Spares and no £450 transport fee.

Re: BM715 Auto Box
The difference between the early and later 4x4 boxes is the wiring and encoder on the shift lever on the side of the box. Alacrity swapped my later box for an earlier one swapping the later encoder to the early box too so the wiring harness was unchanged. Top work and very reasonable too, highly recommended. Bongo spares were talking about having to swap internals but they were probably thinking theyd use the later casing with encoder and fit the internals from the early box.
Re: BM715 Auto Box
Sadly no idea.
If you pop a rough location in your profile someone may recommend an auto box expert near you.

Re: BM715 Auto Box
Sounds like the throttle position sensor is faulty or out of adjustment, personally I would return to the supplier/fitter.
