Remote Central locking

Hello everyone!
New to all of this as the family and I picked up our first bongo last week

It’s a 2002 model and I just wondered if it has remote central locking? We don’t have a fob, so I wondered if there is any way to tell if it has this feature, and if so can I buy a 3rd party fob and just reprogramme it?
Thanks!

Unless you can find a remote fob receiver unit under the dashboard with extra wires run into the drivers door, then the only way is to look in the drivers door itself and see if a solenoid and receiver are mounted in the door itself. If there is then you need to identify the Make and model of the receiver and find a matching remote fob to pair with it, which might be a real pain!. Probably easiest to check in the door for a solenoid, and if not present (most likely) then buy a new setup single solenoid with fob receiver and matching fobs to install.

Hi all
We finally bought our first bongo recently (many thanks to everyone on here who helped with advice etc)
It is a 2004 2.0 litre petrol aero and I am in a similar position to Hank. The seller only had one key and no key fob so I don't know if it has remote central locking.
Does anyone know if this was likely in this version or if there is a list somewhere that I could look up the model and what came as standard?
Thanks ...

The remote fob was an option from Mazda and so won't show in the production spec. The only way to check is to open the drivers door and see if there is a remote fob receiver, if there is then you will have the fun of locating a fob to matchup which aren't strictly legal in Europe anyway they work on the wrong frequency! I would just bite the bullet and buy a remote system with a single solenoid to have installed in the drivers door.

Thanks for that, I'll just stick with the key for the moment then I think

Hey I've a one here that I got with my van but it's half broken as it only locks it.
Does this look like a standard remote or was it fitted afterwards and would it be a big job to get a replacement one?

Ah OK thanks,
Forgot to mention my van is a 98 so maybe it's an older version or possibly even an aftermarket system
