Roof Bolts for roof bars

I'm looking for help for a loose roof bar on my pop top 54 plate Bongo. I've fitted roof bars today but 1 of the bolts has come loose when fitting, meaning only 3 of the fixings are attached at the moment.

The top part of the bolt fixing is loose and the bottom part appears to have fallen into the roof. I've raised the roof however the under side of the bolt hole is hidden by the elevating roof mechanism.

I was wondering if anyone has had same issue and any solutions?

Thanks

These are the parts, but I've never had one come unthreaded;

Thanks but I can't find an attachment or picture for what you mean?

Not quite sure what you mean ?
The picture appears beneath the text, of the threaded bore that screws into the the flat plate on the underneath of the AFT.
Are you not seeing the picture ?

Not sure if this is helpful or not but no picture shows for me either.

Also the picture in Geoff's signature doesn't show any more either. (Hasn't done for a while)

I wonder if it's getting blocked by certain ISPs for some reason?

Randomly though, if I right click on the missing image placeholder and click on 'open image in New tab' then I can view the image perfectly. Which proves it isn't blocked. How strange!

This is what I see and what I see as the image Geoff has posted when I open it in a new window. Fingers crossed they show in this post!

Thanks for that, the picture shows up in the last message.

So basically the bottom part of that bolt has fallen into the underside of the roof. I can't gain access to the underside of the bolt hole as the framework and mechanism for the elevating roof is in the way.

I was wondering if people knew a way around this or will I need to remove the shell of the roof?

Thanks

If you can get the proper size worth trying expanding bolts or anchors .

I wonder if a rivnut would work in this instance?

The flat nut has a plastic moulding around it which is part of the roof, so normally it just slides in from the inside edge as I recall, this is above the rails for the roof sliders.

Have you tried a 'magnet on a stick' type tool, I use mine constantly on my motocycle as I'm always dropping tiny bolts/nuts when getting at my engine, they usually come with different size magnetic heads to get into tight gaps and are extendable to reach into places.

I'm waiting to hear back from Tim at Bongo Barn as he's removing a roof this week to provide some tips on how I might gain access. Fingers crossed.
