Diesel filter problems

Post by trikeboiler » Fri Jan 21, 2022 4:42 pm

Hi all hope someone can help, I have just fitted a new bosh diesel filter, I had to take the whole unit out as the old filter would not move , thought this would be a quick job, anyway the bongo does not run, it's missing and spluttering and will only drive at walking pace, fuel pipes back on correctly, well can't go wrong with them, anybody got any ideas please, thanks.

Did you prime the filter with diesel?

Hi yes I filled the filter with diesel, only after three attempts without priming as I thought the bingo was self priming

It is but it does take a time to pull the fuel thru the system and fill the filter!
Worth checking the Banjo filter hasn't been blocked by any rubbish getting thru the new filter to start with.

Hi thanks for that, I may seem a bit thick here but what is the banjo filter or was that a type error. Thanks.

This is the Banjo filter and location;

On some it has been removed, which isn't always the best idea, its the final very fine filter before the engine itself, be careful getting it out and then wash out with fuel etc.

I'd second the banjo filter. Mine blocked up after changing the fuel filter so it was restricting the flow.

Easy to remove to check, this was mine. I'd had no problems before changing the filter so it must have disturbed bits...

Hi thank you for your info. It was the banjo filter that was full of muck, cleaned it out and it started first time and runs great now. Cheers all.
