Thule 953 roof bar kit

Post by Bark » Fri Mar 04, 2022 7:47 pm

Does anybody know if the Thule 9531 kit fitted to the gutters, will clear a JAL mushroom roof. Wanting to occasionally transport kayaks, obviously without popping the roof when the bars are on. Don't have my Bongo quite yet, but trying to get everything I need.

Welcome!

Are you aware that there are 4 bolt fixing points on the top of an AFT designed for lifting the roof on/off and for bars across the width ?

Its best not to lift the roof with a load on, but it does mean you don't have to remove the rack to pt the roof up!

Don’t have an AFT roof, it’s a JAL mushroom. There’s no bolting positions on it, I want to know if anybody knows if the Thule 9531 kit will clear it. I’m aware I can’t raise the roof with the bars on, will occasionally be moving a sea kayak, looking for something that can easily be removed, there’s some cheap flimsy looking ones ones on eBay, but they look like a faff to get on & off, so I’ll probably go for Thule, just need to get the right kit.
