I am treating my Bongo to some new shocks and wishbones so this is the first time I have had both front wheels off at the same time. I can turn the hubs freely is this normal on a 4 wheel drive Bongo?, I have not noticed anything strange whilst driving.
Thanks Adrian

Pretty sure that if your front diff is in place then the wheels would rotate in opposite directions if you turn one!
Do you still have both half-shafts connected to the diff as per the the link
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html
Its common to remove them to reduce friction and wear unless you really need the 4wd facilities, often the Viscous coupling in the transfer box has failed as well due to overheating the oil hence people remove the drive shafts all the diagrams here
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 5tr.html#5 for the 4wd setup.

Yip that is normal, they use a differential and a VC.

Great, thanks for the replies, yes all the half shafts etc are still in place, one less thing to worry about
