Honey I shrunk the Bongo

Post by mikeonb4c » Sat Mar 30, 2024 11:08 am

Hi All. I'm afraid I'm a rare visitor on BF these days and apologies for that but like so many I ended up falling into Facebook as its just so 'there'.

Anyhoos, after over 17 years with one Bongo, I decided that as I wasn't camping any more (though never say never) I must try and free myself from my addiction to just owning and driving it. In the end though I just couldn't convince myself that some other SUV would make me happy, especially as the Bongos recent duty has been carting my larger model airplanes around. So in the end I went and bought another Bongo and now have two Bongos until the old one is put up for sale. The new one hopefully shouldn't need any attention to bodywork for some years (I'm getting old and don't like using my good days Bongo fettling any more - I just want to be out!). Its a simpler beast, a 2 litre petrol, which is fine although I shall miss the diesel engine in the old one as there's no better pulling engine in a Bongo in my opinion.

Hope you're all keeping well and hope to still drop by here from time to time. Might even try to make a night or two at the Bongo Bash if I can fit that in with another commitment it could clash with.

Mike

Here's a link to Lady Kara arriving to stay with me (the previous owner named the Bongo after the lady who who it for them in Japan).

That's the way to do it Mike. Think of selling 1 and end up with 2 !

Ours is running well at this time. They do scare me a bit though.. the whole specialist garage thing
is a bit of a drag and can add a lot of expense to things unless you have another driver in the family.

They are good when they are running well. They are old and a bit scary with the potential to throw you a bill or 2.

I suppose compared to many other vehicles and the initial outlay for them they remain decent value for what they are
and campers are very desireable and always will be, until diesel and petrol is banned for good, which I still think is a
very long time off.

Hi All, so good to hear from old friends and sorry I don't do the forum like i used to. The Bash has become an annual clash with something else friends book me up to do around the same time. Also I'm no longer geared up well for camping. BUT I really would like to make the Bash even if only for a night on my way down to Dorset for this other commitment so will get my thinking cap on as to how it might be done and keep you posted 🤞👍 and all that jazz
