Bongo Fury

Good morning guys! I'm a newish Member I can't access my other account due to forgetting my registered email address but anyway il try make it quick as I do tend to dribble a lot....

My bongo has been sat up for a month whilst I worked in it, some may of seen my advice request posts! But it was back on the road from yesterday, however I've noticed a rubbing sound from my breaks when I get to a few mph right before I stop, obviously there more pressure applied to the peddle, could this "RUBBING" Be due to VanDiesel being sat up for that length of time?

Also this morning I used said van for the school run, everything was fine got back parked up, but for some reason I turned the ignition back on, no idea why but more than likely to continue listening to the radio and have a fag. I'm really not sure why I turned the ignition back on, but anyway as I did this the "HOLD" Light started to flash. So I briefly panicked and turned ignition off incase my home blew up on me, I turned ignition back on and NO FLASHY FLASHY! Done some quick research to find it could be a grearbox issue ( solenoids or something ) buy anyway I took it for a quick 4 mile drive past derriford hospital and down the parkway to Leigham and back home, no issues with the gears or power, and NO FLASHY FLASHY! Could this be a simple case of losses wire from where I removed gear selector when I changed glowplugs? I have no idea, that's where I'd like some advise. Iv also turned on and off the ignition about 30 times to see if it happened again and nothing. Hopeing it was a one off due to age or some other BS and as for the breaks I'm hopeing it's just a simple case of where.its been sat up, all though I did take it on that 4 mile run. Granted I did t need the breaks on the parkway but surly any surface rust etc would.of come off?????

Hi all again guys. Just been chatting withy mate Burt AKA rusty bleed kits Original CEO and he mentioned to me that I should check my transmission oil level or whatever it's called, iv just done this as the engine was warm from my drive. ( Started engine anyway ) And seen that the level was below *L* now iv read on the world wide web on a post originally by Alan Bugg that engine needed to be warm, and it's possible that this Flashy Flashy was prompted by no transmission oil. Makes sense right. Anyway as it was a one off, I figured that it may of flashed because I was parked on an angle and possibly below the AFT fluid sensor! I'm no macanic so hope I make sense and also sound like I know what I'm on about hahaha......

But yea flashy flashy means transmission and I had no or hardly any fluid. Iv popped some in via funnel, and will have to grab some more as it only just on *L* Now! As advised by my mate I hope this was the root of what could of been, and after a brief search online I found it needed to be done at least every 2 years, and if I'm honest i don't think that I have ever done it..........

Flashing HOLD or flashing GLOWPLUG light means the computers Transmission Control Module (TCM) and Power Control Module (PCM) that make up the Engine Control Unit (ECU) are telling you that there is an error, it can be a simple fault or a complex fault, lots of error codes, you need to use the diagnostic socket to find out what particular error is being reported. See here for the earliest error codes (2-digit), but over the versions several other codes (4-digit codes) and methods have been used, post 2001 there is often a OBDII connector to the left of the steering wheel under the dash as well;

PLEASE NOTE!! When using the older diagnostic connector;
FEN & TEN pins are for MANUAL TRANSMISSION
FAT & TAT pins are for the AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The simplest reason for a Flashing light is if the batteries have been disconnected - the backup supply will have failed and the setup data lost, it will be reset after the next run!

Oil Pressure and Oil level (Diesel only) merely light the Oil lamp on the dashboard neither feed the ECU for either engine or gearbox.
