“New” Bongo which has been undersealed. There’s a strong smell when parked up. Getting back into the Bongo in the morning and it’s strong.
Looking for insight on
1) other owners’ experience of how long an underseal treatment takes to stop smelling?
2) well rated mechanic in SE that understands Bongos and can test the fuel line for a leak anywhere
I’m pretty sure it’s petrol I can smell, but I don’t have any experience of what the underseal would smell like, so…
Thanks

Welcome aboard!
As to the smell of underseal, depends on temperature and type used, but yes it can be a few months going by the reports of others.

Re: (2L petrol) Strong petrol smell
Thanks - that’s good to know. I was expecting the slight “I’m on a coach” ‘warm smell’ from sitting on top of an engine - but the strong petrol-ish smell was very unexpected. I’ll give it another few weeks before investigating further if things don’t improve.
Re: (2L petrol) Strong petrol smell
Probably worth lifting the drivers seat up and checking the fuel pipes and filters first if its unburnt petrol smell, as there going to be a likely place after that not so sure on the 2l engine.

Re: (2L petrol) Strong petrol smell
Martin at https://www.draservices.co.uk/ assured me it was the underseal, and very likely a hint of petrol as the underseal was thinned with petrol so it'd spray out of the gun.
