Bongo Fury

HELP PLEASE, the back door of our 96' Bongo won't stay up, it appears the two hydraulic pistons have both failed at the same time, any suggestions on spares or repair? Also passenger side electric window has failed (at least it's shut) everything appears connected ok, just no action, same again please. ta M+J

There have been various posts about getting tailgate struts regassed - search for tailgate AND strut.
Re your passenger window - are you sure you haven't locked it with the rocker switch by the driver's controls?

You may find only one has failed and one is not enough to hold the weight of the tailgate. I have been to scrapyards with regard to previous vehicles and just matched a set up. You could try someone like this http://www.sgs-engineering.com/ they re-gas or supply new. Try one of the breakers on here that advertise like Bellhill. As far the window goes check where the wiring passes through the door as it can break, you may have a faulty switch but check that you have power at the switch before going down that route.

As ChrisEm says - check the wiring first as it seems to give a lot of problems with Bongos. If it's the switch you can get one from Ian at BongoTowers.

If the window doesn't work from either switch, then you can at least eliminate that. I think the broken wire in the loom by hinge in the most likey cause. If you are handy with the electrics, you could remove door panel, & apply 12v direct to motor. Not inspected one closely, but would imagine there are only 2 or 3 wires. I would disconnect the plug & if only 2 pins, feed 12v into the motor (shouldn't matter which way round - it will either go down or up). If not feeling that brave, at least get a 12v bulb & connect it accros the feed & see if it lights up when the switch is pressed. Good luck.
