Wirral meet

Post by Walter Smith » Sun Apr 22, 2007 9:27 pm

Hi to everyone who attended the Wirral meet this week-end.
What a great turn-out! When I thought of bringing you all to Wirral I thought I might attract half a dozen Bongos - what a turn out and what a friendly crowd, what wonderful weather. The field was ideal for us, Harry's marquee made a good gathering place for us all. The Master gourmet B.B.Qers, the Angus beef burgers and deli sausages washed down with copious amounts of beer and wines. Excellent cabaret by Mike, backed up by some wonderful singing from the rest of us!

I nearly forgot to mention our Saturday morning expedition to the Dungeons. We arrived without any problems. Some of our hikers were looking a little tired so I tried to take them back with a short cut ( Betty would have warned you about my navigating skills if she had been with us ) we got within viewing distance of our Bongos- but the path ended, so we had to retrace our steps. We eventually made it back to camp. The expeditionery force clubbed together to give me a down payment on a sat-nav!

The gathering came from far and wide, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Staffs and Merseyside, however Sue and Pete from Kent were easily our distance travellers and consequently won the bottle of wine that I was offering. A couple of Bongo owners were paying a casual visit to the country park and were absolutely gobsmacked to see a glorious line-up of Bongos, they came in to see us and said how dis- appointed they were not to have seen the postings on our gathering ( it pays to keep accessing the club site! )
I have sent cards to Gerry White who provided us with the field, and to the staff of White's Farm Shop thanking them for helping us have such a good week-end.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed to a great gathering, it well and truly made up for our missing this year's Bongo Bash.

Kind regards,

Walter.
P.S. If anyone wants to buy a Cockerel

Thank you!!

Walter, and excellent venue and so good of you for organising everything, also nice to meet up.
From Sandra and myself, we had a great time... the kids loved it, yes they were the one in swimming stuff when it got cold, I promise that is what they wanted to wear!
Think we were the last up, and we were also the very last to leave the field.
Was nice to be back on the Wirral, a lovely place, and on the way home I had to stop of in Liverpool to do some business, so worked well.

Just got to dry out the awning this week...

The marque was great , what a metting place... and the BBQ's I was stuffed..

To those that we may not have chatted to, there will be another time, but all in all a huge thumbs up weekend..

THANK YOU...

Must admit it was funny seeing the kids in swimwear and wellies ,at least they were prepared for the good weather fri and sat and the rain on sun. and as usual they seemed to take a fancy to my two dogs blue and ozzie (get it daveblueozzie oh well please yourself).
Lost without my Bongo.

You summed it up there bigdaddy. Thanks from me too to all those on BigD's list whose parts I hadnt recognised (if I'd only known I'd bitten into one of DaveBlueOzzies beefburgers). Hold on, I can feel a 'sneeze' coming on:

Fabulous weekend - really keen to do it again. I'd definitely be up for that Windermere site Dave - maybe early Autumn, when the leaves of brown coming tumbling down. Remember? September? In Maine. Ooh yes, wasnt it?

A great big thanks for your welcome; it's good to bongo!

We really enjoyed the 3 hour quick stroll with Walter, so invigorating.

The kites were amazing.

Sue got quite few traffic infringements into her notebook, quite a result, and she still wants a Traveller 3.

All in all a fantastic Bongo meet.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend, hope to see you all again.
