I don't know if any one has an idea what could have happened here but I would welcome any suggestions.
When I turned the ignition key this morning nothing happened. Waiting a few moments I tried again, still nothing. On the third try everything was as it should be.
Yes, I did wait a few seconds after the glow plug light went out. I was in park and the handbreak was on.
I have been out and about all day, sometimes leaving the Bongo for two or three hours, it hasn't happened again and it has never happened before.

Did you just hear a dull click when you turned the key? If so then dodgy starter contacts. Do a search as much has been said about it recently.

I didn't hear anything at all. It was as if I hadn't turned the key.

I agree with Veg_Ian + check battery terminals (vaseline and re-tighten). Cant think of owt else but maybe one of the BF Gurus can help.

Probably won't happen again...

Had a similar problem with my Bongo a couple of months ago. Did it once then hasn't done it since. The only thing I did do was move the gear lever into Neutral and back to Park. Don't know for definite if this is what fixed it coz it started next attempt and hasn't done it since, but it seems quite likely that the gear lever wasn't fully in the Park position or the inhibitor switch had a "blond moment".
Hope yours is the same

Had the same problem and did exactly what IRC suggested, and yes it started first time, so do try moving the gear lever as it may be something to do with it not been in the Park position exactly.

Well it certainly hasn't happened since so like you say it probably had a blond moment. I will make sure I put the gear lever in the correct position from now on.
