Some of them are copper...you can anneal and re-use for a few times

You rarely get a washer with the filter unless you order one seperately. They can be re-used normally without any prep, although some people heat them up to anneal them which softens them up. I don't have the size to hand, but I think it's a standard size for Mazda / Ford, so a local dealer or Halfords ...

... with a warm engine (not hot). If you do remove the plug, make sure you anneal the washer if it's copper or preferably replace with a new one of the right size, & again obviously clean the faces/threads.

Nice one Kirsty~we do that with (copper) head gaskets on motorbikes stick em in an oven~that's usually with new ones 8)

If the washer is copper mike, play some heat over it with a blowtorch till it glows, to anneal it ,dip it in water to cool it, it'll be like new then, and make a good seal. :wink:
