If it only happens on petrol, I would have suggested a blocked breather on the fuel filler. When it happens again, slacken off the filler cap and see if it starts ok.

There are several Autogas places in / around Brum itself (try Google) ..

I have used both these and both are within a few minutes from M6 exits from Brum ...

Exit at Junction 11 then follow the road to Wolverhampton for about 2 miles ..(Behind the BP Petrol station)

This is the guy who fitted my LPG system ... sound guy who also works mechanically on some very nice high grade motors ...

He is situated between J9 (IKEA) and junction 10 (Walsall) .. From Brum J9 would be the better exit ..

If the problem happens on petrol and LPG it would seem unlikely to be a fuel fault as both systems are separate. The other 2 things required for combustion are air and a spark, so on balance I would put my money on it being an ignition fault.

The guy who fitted the LPG to my Toyota (from by IKEA) is very good .. as well as fitting LPG he is a proper mechanic ... I have been there when he as some ace motors on the ramps ..

IF .. I get a V6 he will be the guy I will use again for my conversion ..

Try the temperature sender sensor thingy ... that was the problem on mine with similar symptoms and also on another subsequently on here ... the part is about £30 ...

£140 for nowt .. I would feel a bit (lot) miffed .. did they not even give a 'diagnostic' report ..??

Hilton have a very good (local) reputation for LPG .. but .. even if the problem is mechanical ..ie: tight tappets .. burnt valve / seats .. throttle body .. duff sensor .. low compression .. lack of vacuum etc.

For £140 ... they should have the expertise to suss it out ...!!

Today I had my gas from the guy in Walsall who fitted my LPG system ... he had a 16 seater stretched Hummer .. outside.. fitting the LPG tanks .. being about 30 foot long it was to long to get it in the workshop .. and on a ramp ..!!

Hi Mike, 'diagnostic' report. You must be jocking. Paid my £160 quid.Bill told me they would email me a report. I am still waiting. The other two garages one charged me £20 as they had to call an auto electiction. My Local garage charged me zilch as the they could not find the poblem. When the prob is fixed I need an LPG service but would no go back to Hilton if they would do it for free.
