Knocking noise

Post by markov1723 » Fri Apr 19, 2013 2:13 pm

Im getting a knocking noise from the passenger front side whenever i go over a bump, even a tiny one. Does this sound iffy? Have had a look and cant see anything untoward, but im no expert.

Could it be related to a weird feeling when im on full right lock, where there is a much more dull noise like something catching rubber/plastic or could this be bongo moles?

Recent MOT pass and no mention of any issue/advisory stuff other than the usual kind of things Bongos always have ;-)

Sounds like drop-links to me,jack the wheel off the ground and look for movement side to side and up and down
and also check to see the 19mm nut is tightened up correctly, you can see this behind the wheel from the
wheel well without jacking it up.

+1 as a sanity check, before you start replacing parts. This got me.

Common to get knocking like this as the bongo does suffer from worn drop links. Easy fix and not to expensive, so start with that first. Loads of info on this site about checking & which replacements to buy. If it is drop links don't fall for the ones that are to cheap as you'll be replacing them again really soon.

Cheers
