Re: Engine block heater
Not done it, but the ones I've seen are a small element which fits inside the top hose.
Might pay to do it when you need to bleed it anyway for some other reason.

Re: Engine block heater
Peugeot and Renault do a nice heater which goes inline in a heater hose basically 4 glow plugs in an ally block just have to wire it in through a glow plug relay either manual or temp controlled
Re: Engine block heater
I think the op is referring to a 240volt heater element, that can be left on for a long period.

What for
Re: Engine block heater
Taking post at face value I thought it was to speed up circulating water temp how was I to know he might be going to Denmark maybe give a clue, after all they are virtually not necessary in this country so don’t really appreciate slightly condescending replies
Re: Engine block heater
Appologies, I was just trying to give information to answer your question.

Re: Engine block heater
Sorry old friend , but its not my fault that you dont know what an engine block heater is, I was merely pointing out to you what the op was looking for.
Further more I dont understand your attitude .

I think the clue was in the title ! I think the poster is looking for a way to warm his ‘engine’ up prior to a cold frosty start. You could always put a greenhouse heater under the engine. That would keep the block temp above zero

Hi
There is a fact sheet in the members area...Look at the Engine Pre-heater fact sheet on how to fit the Kenlowe heater. If it's just a case of starting up in cold weather, there are a variety of additives for diesel engines . We get minus 25 C some years where I live and they works down to that temperature and below, but for the limited time it's at that temperature, it's better to use public transport , as there are idiots on the road, and buses are a bit bigger and safer....LOL
Cheers

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

Re: Engine block heater
Denmark calling!
I think I really need one of these now! It took me 5 tries to start the Bongo this morning. (I ran the glow plugs a couple of times). We'd used it on Sunday for a good run it's only sat for a day and a bit.
it's not that cold really (-3degC) , but the windchill makes it -10 (!).
The missus has made a request to fit a night heater, so we can picnic in comfort without the engine on.
I think I'll fit one of these ASAP, as we don't tend to use it much, as we tend to cycle around town.....
