Re: Weird electrical issues
Bongos have a relatively high parasitic drain on the battery (dark current).... and sounds like you may also have a fault on interior light, central locking or cigarette lighter socket making this worse. You may be buying batteries for nothing. If you have a multimeter it's easy to trace the culprit...

Do people still do this? Pela pump; £30 well spent.

Re: Leisure Battery
What exactly are you trying to achieve? As mentioned, a proper, quality roof-mounted panel 100w + regulator and a good installation is going to give you some useful output. Couple of options, a semi-flexible bonded onto the roof and a heavier flat panel with brackets. Pros and cons for both, but a f...

If your convinced the battery is good and it's a 'sticky' motor, then remove the starter motor, check the bearing and that the gear flies out freely on the spline??

Re: Remote learning mode
There was an ebayer selling 3rd party copy the other week. Search for P/N: C901 V 7 601, that's original Mazda 315Mhz remote, which is about as common hens teeth. It was a about £50, so a bit of a punt, as I'm not convinced the programming mode will work. In the end, I bottled it and just keep on tu...

IAT sensor resistance values
Hi, hoping somebody can help. Error code P1114 (Intake Air Temperature 2 Circuit Low Input), amongst others and have occasional limp mode, so been chasing around eliminating possible faults. After some moves under the bongo that a contortionist would be proud of I found the IAT sensor 18-845 in the ...

Bongos are a joy eh! .... to try narrow it down, suggest obtaining the diagnostic codes as per the club factsheets and report back.

Re: Replacement Engine
Sounds like a full engine-out replacement? - £3,5k ouch. Surely, scrapping the vehicle for parts or obtaining a good engine from a rusty scrap vehicle would be more economical? Suspect lots of vehicles with similar mileage, with no underseal and lots of rust are knocking about and keeping an eye out...

Re: Head Gasket? Gutted
Here's hoping.... Can't see a failure where the expansion tank cap fails, so if you left it off and the if you caught it in time (or maybe all the engine temperature sensors starting triggering the ECU to reduce power?), you might be lucky. RAC man may not have helped by pouring in cold water, hopef...

Re: Head Gasket? Gutted
Is it a diesel? They are very sensitive to overheating. 'Head Gasket' is a coverall statement and likely some background issue, split hose, coolant leak or something much worse. I would not rely on the RAC assessment - get a bongo specialist to look at it.

Re: Wiring Diagram
Hi, recently updated my PC and lost adobe flash and hence access to the detailed circuit wiring diagrams.
Used this website to install a stand-alone "portable" older version of Firefox that still has Flash installed. Works great.

Re: Baffled - glowplug warning and dark current maybe
Yes, with split relay and also solar panel with fancy MPPT charge control. The leisure battery is disconnected (negative only), and solar to main battery diconnected at the controller. The battery isolator has about 2-3mm of nylon that separates the main battery negative lead to the terminal when un...

Baffled - glowplug warning and dark current maybe
Started getting the dreaded glowplug warning and limp mode, so just doing the usual before diving-in, eg collecting diagnostic codes (the normal suspects 1114, 0400 & 1228). I have a battery isolator, the type that unscrews at the terminal, so been collecting codes, clearing faults by isolating ...

Re: Original seatbelt with Rock & Roll bed
Hi, I looked into all this before my conversion. I have a side conversion with a similar, but hybrid arrangement, and using the original bench seats. The conversion keeps my factory seats - this being done by chopping out and discarding the central seat section from each bench, and then re-welding t...

Re: Should I scrap my Bongo?
Has the local guy got any knowledge of a diesel bongo, especially the cooling system? If not, it's pretty cheap, but I'd fear very likely 700€ down the pan. If you're in Seville, I could dig out my old mechanics' number (Antonio) - he changed a few hoses and flushed my system a good few years back -...
