Re: Gearstick Hold Switch

Nothing wrong with the damn switch  After cutting the wire up to the selector knob to fit a different switch that I had, I put the two wires together, and nothing happened. It's actually a section of wire down to the connector block. So I've carefully removed the pins from the block, replaced ...

Re: Mazda Bongo Campervans - York

One thing to think about, is that I would check and double check anything that might arise from being stood for a period of time. I don't know what his turnover is but there's vans that have been in there for months with very little movement (I go past every day, work nearby) so make sure you do al...

Re: Gearstick Hold Switch

Well, I have no idea how it's supposed to be done, but even being very very careful, I've snapped the button off.
I think I'll be either sourcing a new top, or fitting a small switch myself.

Re: Mazda Bongo Campervans - York

Hazza is right, they still are mainly petrol models, pretty much 80% of his stock is 2.5V6's, mainly aftermarket roofs, a few AFTs. His kitchen units look good and just plug into the rear cig lighter. They are clean , new wheels etc, undersealed and very good condition (want to be for that price), b...

Re: Gearstick Hold Switch

That was the thread! Couldn't for the life of me find it. Problem is, mine doesn't seem to come apart! I had it in my head that with the selector knob removed all the buttons should easily come out, but mine don't seem to want to do that. I even had a pair of pliars on it and still nothing, won't bu...

Re: Gearstick Hold Switch

Those just take the knob off. I cannot see a way of extracting the actual switch.

Gearstick Hold Switch

I've spent ages looking through here and also Google, but all I keep finding is people having the "Hold light flashing" issue. The switch on the gearstick doesn't work, but the Hold function does. I have tested this with a piece of wire to jump across on the block under the gear selector. ...

Had it's first check over

So my Bongo had its first trip to the garage for an investigation/poke around to see what needs doing. I've decided to focus on mechanicals and important bits before going really far into the actual camper side of things (still doing interior things but the noisy bits take precedent). Inner sills in...

Re: Happy fuel times!

Wouldn't have liked doing yours or mine in the weather we've had this weekend.
Might only be a sheet metal shop (there's a lot of big machinery behind me from that pic) but certainly serves well enough for messing on with cars!

Happy fuel times!

I did the "advance plunger" bellhouse and plate seal today, following Dandys thread and using the nice squidgy green O rings. This is the most advanced mechanical thing I've done, apart from a power steering pump on a van a few years ago. It went very well, if not slowly, largely because I...

Re: Had a fuel moment.

Well, now I am scared.
Guess I should start reading up on how to check gaskets and such before something gets properly damaged and it all becomes an expensive mistake :(

Had a fuel moment.

Hello all. Had a bit of a fuel issue on Friday (4th Feb); For some reason I decided to give the Bongo a little run and went to work in it. When it was time to come home, I clambered in, turned the key and it made a very stuttered attempt to start (usually it turns over immediately) whilst the revs w...

Re: Diesel heaters

Ah heh, we're going the other way round. It has a (rubbish) end conversion and I hate it. Looking forward to better weather for that reason also but sadly I have to do the injection pump seals which is an absolute must do and I will not complete any other work until I am satisfied that it's no longe...
