Re: Coolant replacement query

Help please. Very frustrated bleeding bongo.

I couldn't change the water pump in the end. The pulley bolts were to tricky so I settled with changing the belts I needed to do.

I also changed the coolant, even though I had no issues with the engine or coolant, but worried about it being just water ...

Re: Coolant replacement query

Not for the feint-hearted!! Front and rear heater matrix's and meters of complex pipework. For a full coolant change, really need to back-flush the radiator and heater matrix's, ie by disconnecting inlet / outlets. If you are doing belts, you might want to order the pulleys or at least know where ...

Coolant replacement query

Hi

Diesel engine here.

I've seen lots of information on bleeding the bongo after coolant change. But there's not a lot of info on getting old coolant out.

Do I simply disconnect lowered rad hose? Does this get access to whole system or do I need another hose of too?

Do I need clear access ...

Re: Alternator belts

Thanks. Think the AC belt needs to come off, so will replace al three.

If I did water pump at the same time, do l lose loads of coolant, or just a bit i.e. can I just refill the system on partially with a bit of a bleed?

Re: Digital Heater query

Thanks Geoff. All seems fine, just not very hot. The car needs a coolant change, so perhaps a flush of the heater matrix is in order.

Alternator belts

Hi

I've just noticed that my 2.5D bongo has no second alt belt. Just 1. It's prob been like that a good long while but obviously I need to fix.

Is there. Way I can get the second (left hand side) on without taking off the AC belt. I have very limited work space so tend to try to do every job from ...

Re: Digital Heater query

Thanks. I'll remove the covers and check it's all actually working. I assume fairly easy to do.

Re: Digital Heater query

The linkages are all moving as they should both sides. (In my head the digital display meant some sort of climate control, not just flaps opening!)

Could the thermostat have something to do with it. The temp control takes a while to wake up. Not sure timing exactly but it sits at cold for a good ...

Re: Digital Heater query

That's brilliant. Exactly what I needed to point me in the right direction. I'll have a proper look and see what's happening in there.

Digital Heater query

Hi
2.5D R reg Bongo here.
No heat from heater, fans blowing, all linkages seem to move.
Engine temp on dashboard normally sits at 11 or 12oclock,no problems there. No recent coolant change.

Any ideas? I don't really understand what the digital controls do when changing temperature. Is there a hot ...

Re: Mystery wire

After managing to blend the two wiring manuals together I've put wiring in place which broadly mirrors how it should have looked. It now means the roof has power when engine is on and doesn't destroy the battery. Thanks for all the help! Gave me the confidence to work out how to fix.

Re: Mystery wire

I'll see if I can track him down 😉. Will he thank you for it?!

At least it confirms things for me and I can start trying to match diagrams and wires up without hitting dead ends. It was just so confusing!

Re: Mystery wire

I bet the ATF is from the older model and so the roof loom is older

Re: Mystery wire

Yep. That probably explains it! I'll send over some pics tonight. It does look very original inside, so not sure how it's happened.

Possibly why the roof light never lights up or flashes.

The roof loom carries a Yellow Blue wire which on mine is a bare loose wire and doesn't connect at x13. I.e ...
