I tweaked my old diesel but that had a mechanical pump that had lots of adjustment options.

In fact (on dry roads) I tend to use the 'H' and slide the lever down to '2' the free revving V6 engine thrives on it ......

I've got a V6 too and sometimes use Hold, sometimes ...

When first driving away I hear a rattley noise in 1st and as it changes to 2nd.
Have checked the level when warm, in P, engine running. Topped it up a bit with D lll. Colour is pinky.
Once warm the box is quiet.
Always changes smoothly, possibly even better after the top up.
