Mazda temperature gauge

Never having seen a Mason modified temperature
gauge in operation, I have no idea where it settles down when up to temperature.
Is this somewhere near the truth?

yes to both steve,but it does depend on the motor conditon.
the 1oo ohm mod on haydns site does somewhere inbetween the 2 pics.

the 100 ohm mod sits a little lower on mine. but generally they seem ok to me.

From what I understand, you are saying that GENERALLY they are correct but may vary slightly from one Bongo to another, EXCEPT for the standard
Mazda gauge which will be the same on any Bongo. (does that make sense?)
Just trying to get a few facts together.

Also bring into the Mason mod factor that the more electrical load (headlights/ heater fan on full) the
gauge can go a little higher!!

calming to look at... Unlike my own
gauge.

The scale shows what is actually happening in the coolant in the head, even though the
gauge needle suggests otherwise.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh the advantages of REAL TIME numbers.

Been monitoring mine this way for the last 2 years. Being a numbers freak and someone who likes to know EXACTLY what's going on, I fitted it from day one. Sensor point changed in November so it accurately reads coolant temperature at the head, and it now is absolutely priceless (for me).
It shows me that the thermostat is healthy and doing
exactly what it is supposed to be doing.
There is a cheaper way to do this than the one I have got (TM-2), again supplied by Haydn.

So.....are you saying that the Mason modified
gauge shows not only a temperature change in the head, but will vary according to the electrical load of headlights/ heater fan on full, etc?
Does this happen on all Mason modified gauges?

I wonder if cockpit ergonomicists would say that assimilating data from a digital readout requires more pilot attention than noting a needle position.

Very true Mike. However, the difference is the EXACTLY the same as reading 2 books - one fact, the other fiction (In the case of the
Mazda gauge, Noddy springs to mind
).
