Key in ignition beep

Now I know this has been done before, and I've searched for the answer to this but I've not found it... So, here goes:

I've just disconnected the white connector under the steering column shroud to stop the key in ignition beep. Great no more beeping simply because the key's in - BUT now the reversing beeper only works if the lights are on

Is there a way to stop JUST the key in ignition beep????

If it's complicated, I'll probably just live with it as it is

if you have the beeper under the side panel near the steering wheel connecting to the blue beeper box then just cut the white wire.thats what i did no beep with ingnition or doors everything else works ok.
