My exhaust back box fell off the day before our trip to Cornwall this summer . I junked it and fitted a length of stainless steel flexihose I had in the garage and reused the rear chrome tip .A couple of thousand miles later ,it is still working fine with no appreciable noise increase.
Last week, much to my surprise , the van sailed through its MOT with this set up.It feels a little bit nippier to drive but there has been no change in fuel consumption

Appreciate the offer . What condition are the various parts in now that you have removed it? The rest of the exhaust might well fall appart around my stainless bits at some stage! I am inclined to leave it all be at present and replace the lot with a stainless system when the need arises.
If anyone local has their back box fall off I have a spare length of stainless flexitube which they can have for free
