I am not in the same class as you Steve when it comes to bling but I do like most things to match up. So how do I go about changing the orange light of my BMW clock to the green of the original Bongo instruments.

Often wondered if I should change them all to another colour if that is possible, one that would be maybe more restful but easier to see. Perhaps we could do another poll to see what colour most Bongo owners would prefer their instrument lights to be?

Mountaingoat.

I made my BMW clock blue (although not too bright).

I took the clock apart completley and inside I found a green dome which I removed. I then cut a blue pastic shampoo bottle lid to fit inside and I now have a blue illuminated clock :D

Does anyone know if the switches and dash dials use coloured filters which can be removed?

Later, just about to have my tea.

She wasn't happy that I had half my dash in pieces on the dining table when she got back from work :?

Well, here is the result. They are not what I would call bright, but they are ok. I know the recirc button looks green in the photo, but it isn't, honest.

I do not like bright illuminations anyway, so when I get my VP dials, I will be able to tune them in to a similar brightness. I fitted two bulbs (soldered onto board) in the clock.

I will be looking into replacing the LED display with a blue or may be red one on the CC but don't hold out much hope. The mode selector LEDs should be easy to replace though.

I have blue bulbs in the blind switches now too and I think due to the fact they have a green filter (the bit with the blind printed on) they still look green.

Will try the filter over LED display though, but I think this will also not work. Hope it does though

The standard filter over the LED is smoked at present.

I recently did mine thanks to the fact sheet with some bulbs from Maplins.

I had to shorten the bulb holders (with a stanley knife) so it would fit back together as the new bulbs were slightly longer. As the green boots wouldn't fit I used a paint pen from a craft shop that we had. After I realised I could have used any colour but I wanted to keep them green.

I will try to refind the part numbers if anybody wants them. At night they look fine. No different if they had the boots on, well I imagine so as they didn't work in the first place lol.
