Cheers Pete
Having parked up near the pub overnight I awoke to find the van and the roads covered in 3" of snow.
Combine that with the rason det're for me being there in the first place to do some wildlife photography and finding that my LCD screen on my expensive digital camera had cracked overnight I was feeling pretty p****d off.
At 9.00am I was trying to think how to call the whole meet off.
Anyway by lunchtime I returned to the pub to find rodhud had arrived so we retired to the log fires and another bongo arrived...and another...and another etc etc.
Good beer...good food...good company...all toasting around a log fire with sunshine streaming through the pub windows and snow blizzarding past (yes sometimes both at the same time)
Kids buildling a snowman (Bob) on the picnic tables and throwing snowballs.
Whilst Pegleg Pete & Karena sensibly scuttled for home the rest of us went off to a private nature reserve where we were lucky to be able to watch 3 or 4 red squirrels.
7 bongos attended with about 20 people altogether.
Thanks for making a what could have been a disaster into a great day out.

So sorry to have missed out on the mini -meet, photos look GREAT!!!! Having phoned ahead early morning to family staying in Burtesett (1 mile out of Hawes) for a weather report, we decided that the weather was to bad for our poorly "Billy-Bongo". We did venture over late afternoon in the Honda, managing to have a climb up the hill and have a snowball fight before our warm by the coal fire..... As we were driving in, we spotted several Bongos leaving......arrrrrghhhh........maybe next time!!!
Jo and the Boyz.....
and the kids are singing.......
Billy Billy Bongo, Billy Billy Bongo, Billy Billy Bongo, We Love You!!
Heyho
Billy Billy Bongo, Billy Billy Bongo, Billy Billy Bongo, ? ? ?

Brilliant day out, never expected the blizzard, drove to the Dragon through a "whiteout".
Nice to meet up again with the regulars, and nice to meet Ronhud, who had travelled from Hudderfield for the meet
Neil and Lynzy and their friends Mark and Lynne christened Neils Bongo, the four of them stayed at a campsite outside Hawes, woke up to 6"
of snow on Sunday morning....and no hook up!!. Neil and Lynzy slept up in the roof,They are now confirmed TOUGH NORTHERNERS IN VESTS!!!

£12 for 4 of them with the Bongo, and spoke highly of the site....bargain.

Thanks again to Harry for getting the ball rolling and getting us motivated
Brian n Jean
Ps....Mark and Lynne, who came along with Neil and Lynz, have got the bug
and are thinking of joining us in the mad world of Bongos.....two more prospective nutters in the fold

Confucious once said " To be fluent in Bongolese is to hold the key to the world!"
