leisure battery

just brought a split charge relay kit which requires me to tap into the D+
wire of the alternator.having read posts about this causing problems with
battery light staying on i am a bit wary to do this. Is there another way to
pick up a D+ wire without using the alternator or have i got to buy another kit.please dont get to technical with your answers as i am a simpleton! cheers.

Yes that's right, if you splice into the wire from the alternator you will find your dash lights glowing as if the alternator is duff. You can get around this by picking up an ignition controlled source from elsewhere such as the radio. That's not ideal but will work. Better still to fit a voltage sensing relay between your split charge relay and battery live.

just came on to sing willintons praises...received his split charge relay kit today and just unwrapped it to have a look ....im impressed .....at first... thought it was expensive but now i have seen it

well worth the investment....and even a numpty like me should be able to fit it

thanks dont know what i'd do without you all. the volt sensing thingy from
willinton is just what i need. I think i can incorporate it into the kit ive just
brought and only for a few dollars more! cheers again guys

I'm getting the split charge relay from Willintons and the leisure battery tray. Thanks for info on this. Do I need or would it be any use to have volt sensing thingy? Or is the split charge relay kit sufficient?

Secondly any advice on good leisure battery to buy? I'm in Brighton. Thanks.

i think the kit willinton sells has an intelligent relay which already has the volt sensing thingy inbuilt,so you should be ok.
