I thought they promised "No Fix - No Fee" - at least get your money back.

Re: Air "Con" seems that way at Kwik Fit
I was in my local Kwikfit 1st thing today for an aircon check. The manager was grumpy, but the fitter was good. The Kwikfit poster said 10% improvement in coldness or no charge.
I was able to tell the fitter I needed Gas R134A (1150g) and 14ml PAG oil. Did I know which type of PAG oil he asked as the wrong type could damage my compressor. He said 90% of cars use PAG 46 but didn't want to risk it. He said he'd check the temp. of air coming out my aircon vents anyway. He got a reading of 8.9 degrees C and thought that was quite good and probably the best the Bongo system could do. I thought he was a fine chap, insisted he accept the price of a pint from me, and said I would find out what PAG was needed and come back when my aircon seemed more likely to need regassing.
This tale may help you in 'discussions' with your Kwikfit. In short, you shouldn't be paying.
Good luck
Mike
PS - anyone know if it is PAG46 thats needed

I'm not Kwak flits biggest fan..exhaust for my paj £379.75....or buy the same one from the supplier and fit it myself for £186...
Many of these offers appear to be a way of getting you "over the door" so they can piont out "faults" that then you pay large amounts to fix.
Also be aware some of these exhaust and tyre places used to offer bonuses to their fitters based on what they could get the customer to "buy" on their "advice"..this practice has been mentioned in the motoring press and I dont know if its still happens
but it does appear to encourage fitters to replace as much as poss to make the best wage.
If you want you air con done get the system pressure checked first as this will tell you straight away if there is a leak..no point in filling up if there is!
I asked a guy in a commercial air con van that was in a car park if he would do mine for cash. He explained the system and gasses, pressure tested, found a leak, swapped a pipe and refilled my ac....£35 cash...you could try doing the same!
all the best

Ideally it should be used at least once a week to keep it at it's best.Nibs wrote:![]()

I find mine needs to run for some time before it starts to effect conditions inside the cab, also if you run the rear at the same time it has to play catch up, but like you say it needs a run now and again to keep it in trim

Don't expect instant Cold from your aircon. The fact that you need to use it, normally means its a fairly warm day. The components and ducting will have been heat soaked and will need to be cooled by the airflow before any cool air eventually reaches you in the cabin. This can take quite a while, and make sure the control is set to recirc air, otherwise the system is trying to cool warm fresh air all the time. Hope this helps.

The output from mine is cool within about 30 seconds or so and the whole van's comfortable in less than 5 minutes....MAXANDPADDY wrote:Don't expect instant Cold from your aircon. ....
