HOLD switch not working on auto gear lever

Hi, can anyone help me? i have only had my bongo since may it's a 98 R plate and it's great and everything worked until recently! The problem i have is that the hold function on the auto box has suddenly stopped working it used to work great, i used to press the small button on the auto gear leaver when i was descending a steep hill and it would change down a gear and hold would illuminate on the dash until the small button was pushed again when the normal function of the gear box would resume and the hold light would go out, but now when i push the button nothing happens it doesn't change down and the hold light doesn't illuminate is there a fuse that's blown somewhere or is it something more sinister???????????? i have recently had the cam belt changed could that have somrthing to do with it???????

I'm no expert - but if you've recently had the cam belt changed the gear lever may have been moved out of the way. If there's a connector loose somewhere then this could be the cause....

I'd take off the engine covers and have a rummage around to see if there's anything obviously loose, electrically speaking

thanks dave, i stripped it down and there was nuffin obviously loose. i'm open to any other sugguestions?
