Wheel Quick to the rescue.
Wheel Quick got me out of serious poo yesterday and today
The story goes that my exhaust started vibrating on something and on inspection I found that the pipe that enters the rear box had sheared
then looking closer I discovered the middle flexi section was all perforated
so I decided I would order a full system and ended up ordering one off ebay. Whilst I waited for it to arrive I stripped off the middle and back sections - it didnt take long as most of it just fell off ( rust ). When the new system arrived I took the front pipe off and lay both systems side by side to compere them and they looked the same
- when I offered up the new front pipe I found it was too short
It was just over 1.5 inches short - made 1st phone call to supplier - refitted old front pipe and offered up new middle pipe - found the flanges where at different angles
- made 2nd call to supplier and it was agreed to return the system for a refund .
Phoned mike who said to bring the old system in - took it to Mikes in the wifes car - and he would sort something out it turns out on further inspection that the front pipes on vans with the winter pack (exhaust valve ) on are longer and replacement front and middle sections will not fit.
Mike was able to get around the problem by supplying me with a used front pipe without the valve on and a new middle and back section.
Got it home and one hour later and some new gaskets job done.
So to Mike and Stu a big thankyou for getting me out of this predicament and the saved me money as well.
If I had all the money I ever spent on my Freda ............ I`d spend it on my Freda.

Thats great news.. I was also in wheel quick to-day getting stuff done, and on inspection, and I was show, my exhaust, was, lets say past its sell by date.. But no rip off, at wheel quick, just the back and middle box replaced.
Also to-day got front and back drop links done, 2 new front tyres, new starter motor (which is why I went) oil change, new oil filter, fuel filter, broken clip for the bonnet catch, and some other stuff.. all done while I waited.
And they have some rather tasty Bongos for sale... Head up from here also.

Glad you got sorted by "the mike's" and good old stu too...
I admire your thinking with the planning to the task at hand too Ian,can you imagine the mither you'd have had, if you'd ripped off the old system, binned it, then be left with a non winter pack exhaust that wouldn't have fitted, and no clues as to why?
It sounds like your original supplier only deals in the "standard" exhaust,As surely they would have been aware of the size discrepancy between the two otherwise?
Glad you got sorted...

Re: Wheel Quick to the rescue.
I went to Wheelquick a few weeks ago with a problem with the rev counter, they told me its the sensor on the engine side, they went and had a look in a box of bits they have , produced a sensor, told me to fit it and let them know how i got on.
i went back, told them all ok , and asked them how much for the sensor, he looked at me and said dont be daft dont want anything for it.
now how many garages will do that ,not many i bet.

I've not been more than three times, mostly Sundays, each time blown away by the place.
Impossible to get away from. A genuine Alladins Cave.
It really is a Bongo Mecca.
Not only that but spending money is remarkably comfortable.

Re: Wheel Quick to the rescue.
I visited them after Tan Hill and while I was there told them that I needed two extra long bolts to fix my bull bars on properly. They looked in their famous box of bits and came up with two that I needed. Again they refused to take any payment for them.I went to Wheelquick a few weeks ago with a problem with the rev counter, they told me its the sensor on the engine side, they went and had a look in a box of bits they have , produced a sensor, told me to fit it and let them know how i got on.

Now that is customer friendly service.
