expansion cap
Hi guys, can you confirm that the expansion tank top when you press the release button that it should pop back up on it's own
i am not sure if we have a problem or not
we keep losing a small amount of water no overheating probs, but when we topped up the tank today Garry noticed that the black button on the cap was pressed in,so should it be in or out
we think in so i hope you techie peeps out there can clear up the confusion please
cheers Heather

Re: expansion cap
I'd get a proper cap Heather - the one you've got doesn't sound standard at all - mine's the same as the others here.

Re: expansion cap
i think you have the wrong pressure cap on the tank, it should look like the one in Trev's photo, YELLOW ON THE TANK AND RED ON THE RADIATOR.

Re: expansion cap
well it is yellow but with this black button which says press to release
it also says 1.1 on it.Where would i get one from?and could it let water escape if it stays pressed in as this does release the pressure

Re: expansion cap
you should not be losing water from the cap, it sounds like you just press it to release the pressure before you take the cap off. you may have a small leak elsewhere.heatherpetch wrote:well it is yellow but with this black button which says press to releaseit also says 1.1 on it.Where would i get one from?and could it let water escape if it stays pressed in as this does release the pressure

Might lose some if this button isn't sealing properly Dave.daveblueozzie wrote:you should not be losing water from the cap,
I'd have thought that a cap should be available at your local car spare shop - surely they're not specific to a Bongo

Re: expansion cap
you are right John if its not sealing properly, but it does not sound like any cap ive seen, and ive helped fit a lot of coolant alarms and never seen one like heather's descriptionfrancophile1947 wrote:Might lose some if this button isn't sealing properly Dave.daveblueozzie wrote:you should not be losing water from the cap,
