Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
Just did a search on "horn AND relay" - found this - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... y&start=15 .
It's all there if you look for it

Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
Hi Jolly Rogers,
There isn't much to the horn circuit. THIS IS BASED ON THE EARLIER MODELS
and I think with only drivers air bag.
fuse 5 - 10 A feeds both the coil & contact of the relay and is always live (no ign. switch).
Chassis is part of the horn mechanics and the horn switch chassis must be local to it (on the steering wheel arrangement somewhere.
So if you have no power at the horn either the supply to the relay is faulty (blown fuse or broken wire) or the horn switch is not operating the relay (faulty switch or poor earth or broken wire)
If you have a meter you could check that 2 of the contacts of the relay socket are live (when you pull it out)
Or you could check that the "TAB" contact on the diagnostics socket is live without you operating the horn switch on the steering wheel. The "TAB" is the one below the top left corner of the diagnostics socket.
if there is power on the 2 contacts of the relay then alls well as far as the relay
if you have power on the "tab" contact and it does not drop to 0v when you operate the switch then the fault is at or near the switch.
to test the switch you could pull the relay and measure resistance from the "TAB" contact to chassis - open circuit - then 0 ohms when operating the switch
Or do the same from the un-powered socket contacts for the relay - one is the feed to the horn and will be low ohms and the other is the switch - as for the "TAB" above.
The later models don't appear to have the "TAB" connection
Sorry but thats the best I can do.
Good Luck
regards Grahame

Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
you could just wire up a push button switch with a fused wire from the battery to the bongo horn after disconnecting it from the loom as a last resort to get you through the test and have a longer look later to fix the problem, it would get you a ticket and buy you some time , then temporarily stick the button to the dash remember THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY AND A LAST RESORT

Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
I have fitted a massive air horn to my Bongo, it all worked great until I turned the wheel. All I did was remove the old wheel fitted the horn by getting a live off the old horn thingy and the putting the wheel back on. The problem came about when I connected the new wheel, which is a sporty 13" doobrey. One press and all hell broke loose. I still dont know why, I just press the horn when the wheel is straight now. Save's any problems.
p.s. I have nit tgold the insurance

What I know about car electrics you could write on the back of a postage stamp.
Do you think an auto electrician is my best bet or just take it back to the garage and ask them to try and sort it.

Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
Right then I have power to the back of the red 10amp fuse top 5th to right which I believe is the correct. I have no power going to the switch. Having problems tracing the cable from the steering wheel
Any ideas

Re: Help please wiring diagram for horn
Have you checked that you are getting power at the horn itself? Don't know about the Bongo, but the horn button normally completes the circuit by acting as an earth.

A bit of lateral thinking here.....

Sorry JR, couldn't resist it and wiring was never my strong point.
Hope you get some useful advice from someone other than me
