Battery tester for leisure battery.

I can't see any mention of 9 volts on the ebay description & specs Only on the title.
If the operating range 5 to 15v is what is displayed - then what is the measured range 0 to 20v?

Not sure what they mean by 0 to 20v,can only think they mean 0 volts to minus -20volts.This gauge is probably for testing other than a battery.ie on transformers etc.

Sorry but I think you're wrong, why would it have an operating range of 5 to 15v & a measured range of 0 to 20v (+ or -), if it did not mean it operated on 5 to 15v & measured 0 to 20v?

I also read it as an operating (input) range from 5 - 15 volts, presumably to operate the unit and backlight - therefore my info on wiring it through the ignition still stands...........

Having had a better look at the specifications I would say that Kirsty and Dandy are spot on.

The voltmeter side can be wired to the leisure battery and the other input which it says cannot be wired to the measured circuit would be ideal connected to an ignition feed and therefore the other battery. It clearly states that this feed can be 5 to 15 volts (you'll probably find that the higher the voltage the brighter it will be!)

WILL HAVE A GO SAT/SUN, if it does not work (i dunno why it wont) i will only have lost about £8 and a bit of time.have read the info on his ebay site and it looks like anything from 5 to 15 v for the main power is ok.
have read all your comments and info and i think swiched live wire is the way to go.
Kirsty, yes we used the patches by taking the fuses out so a good source of power for the display.

If the device is wired to read the leisure battery voltage and connected to the Start battery for its supply because it needs a separate power source, when the split charge relay is turned on the two batteries are electrically connected together. Won't this matter?

You are correct Manny the unit would be drawing from the same source.

Ps I have a sneakey feeling that the back light should be 5 Volts not 9 Volts.

Hi Kirsty,that one looks good,it seems to have a built in regulator 5V to 15V,therfore it can be powered from the same source.Its Daves that is the problem,I dont think it has this feature.

I can remember you buying it,I think you said you got it for £8.00.If it is what it says on the tin its a good buy.

Just going for a pint with 4 mates 2 mechanics an auto elecy and a Dobber.

Kirsty that is not the same unit as mine, mine does not have dip switches
Manny you may be correct when the split charge switches on it will read what the main battery/alternator is putting into the LB. but am correct in assuming that it is a one way feed so it will not be reading the main battery ,only what the split charge is putting in.
