Re: Radiator Blocked
That's fairly well gummed up then
Good shot of the oil cooler too, might have to pinch those photos
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Help yourself to the photos Kirsty.
For anyone that has not seen the oil cooler it is a hollow tube
Not sure how to describe it really - think of a really wide wedding ring with a hollow band - the oil is fed through the band from one end to the other

A picture is worth a thousand words (especially when they are mine

Perfectly clear end to end - like a telescope with no lenses

Interesting pictures there..
So.. There's a cavity in the pipe then..? looks quite narrow, i was expecting an Archimedes screw set up!

Re: Radiator Blocked
Certainly not the most efficient of coolers, be interesting to monitor the gearbox oil temp & see if it'd be advantagous to fit an external oil cooler & stat as Helen has mooted to me.

Re: Radiator Blocked
The coolant temp at the bottom of the rad will be a lot less than the oil temp in the 'box. Remember the oil can't be too thick - the torque convertor will only lockup when the oils at running temp (controled by the engine coolant temperature). Sticking the cooler in the airstrem may overcool it. I reckon the designers will have spent a bit of time and research on this one - not often you hear of a faulty/overcooked autobox..............

Re: Radiator Blocked
Have run to Alton Towers over the weekend - The temp only got to just over half on the gauge (Mason Alarm fitted) even when pushed up some decent hills. On the way back on the M62 from the M6 junction going East the temp only just pushed over the halfway stage on the steepest sections (as opposed to at the top end with the heaters on full and the alarm chirping as per the previous weekend.)
Top result
So for the year we have had the Bongo we were running round with a duff rad - I am sure that had we not had the Mason Alarm fitted we would have fried the engine.
Next job ...... reverse the seats, change the g'box oil and the heater plugs
Top result
