I am a junior kiter (although a little older in years ) but don't get to fly too often

As an aside we spent our 10th wedding anniversary on the Isle of Wight (9 Years ago now ) and really enjoyed it (Country Garden Hotel in Totland - superb place - fantastic food - they even cleaned the car windows every day so we could see the Island better )

We will be back sometime

what did i do yesterday on the beach

got to 3rd place in the world and current uk record holder for the most distance covered in a single sessions flying

200 miles over nearly 9 hours flying with a top speed of 40 ish mph

it would have been a bit boring for you but glad you came down, sorry i didnt talk much but i wanted to get this record under my belt. last 20 miles was a real struggle, the wind dropped off and i was getting tired, started on the beach at 7.15 and finally got off it at around 8pm as i was waiting for another lad who was trying for a record as well and needed me to verify his gps unit.

got bruised ribs and some nice sore blisters on my hips where the harness had been rubbing but worth it
kirsty i dont get any medal or anything but it does put me on a leaderboard of records that are kept globally.
first place goes to a lad from holland who did 280 mile in a session with a top speed of 77.05 mph

i personally havnt landboarded in 4 years i use a buggy now
thats the only way i would have managed 200 miles
i fly nr bridlington morecombe and hoylake nr wirrel

Are there any records set for landboards?
Not that I'm interested in trying - haven't flown a kite since Anglesey in March.

usually bout 30 miles pete, knees seem to give up, dont think anyones really set many records on a board, fastest speed i thinks about 34 mph.

I buggy with mike from time to time. I was there that weekend that he did this feat although Ollie and i had to leave on the morning he did it.
This is a hell of a test of endurance. Most people will clock up about 50 miles in a day and be totally spent.

Mike and I also hold the UK Tandem 2 kite record and second in the world, that is two buggys attached like a truck and trailer.
Though this was a steep learning curve as neither of us had done it before. Turned out to be a painful curve for mike and for one of my bugs.

All this was achieved in the last few weeks at Bolton le Sands near Morcombe. Fortunately good weather and beach conditions played a big part in loads of records being broken, both personal ones and UK ones.

I think we should bask in our glory for as long as we can as these will be broken again i think very quickly.
