Another Hebrides trip

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Another Hebrides trip

Post by idetika » Sun Aug 30, 2009 9:16 pm

I know there are some stunning pictures already on here of the Hebrides and Skye but I just wanted to add a few more.
We've just come back from touring Barra, Uist, Benbecula, Harris, Lewis and Skye and would go back tomorrow!
The weather was iffy, had to put the roof down a couple of times in the extreme wind but we're very impressed with the Quechua Base tent that we bought just before we went, stood up to some evil weather!
Another item we couldn't manage without was the Cobb BBQ, especially when the regulator packed up on the gas bottle! (And I was stressing about running out of gas before we went!)
Fuel was very expensive, £1.18 a litre on some Islands but thanks to the advice on here we filled up in Oban.

I guess if the weather was always good, everyone would go there, and we'd have had to share the beaches!

The Outer Hebrides, Harris and Lewis which my brother lives on are absolutely stunning places to be ,even in bad weather. The beaches are to die for white sands turquoise sea and nobody on the beach for as far as the eyes can see ,stunning, glad you had a brill time, you will remember that holiday forever and you will go back, everybody does eventually.
Lost without my Bongo.

Glad to hear you had a great time. fantastic photos =D> Seams you had a mixed bag of weather. We usually find if you just get on with what you fancy doing, it usually changes every half hour anyway   You can't beat sitting in the van and watching the weather fronts roll over, hot cuppa in hand, and having just been for a great walk, run, splash or bike. :D :D

Anyway thanks for sharing.

All the best.
