Do all makes fit? I know the green Numax 110Ah that Willinton designed the tray around does fit OK but if I stray from that marker I'd want to check dimensions are as per the Numax.

If Imperial fit Elecsols and given that they care (I believe!) about their reputation for quality goods at quality prices, then they ought to be a good endorsement for the make. I certainly think that's what I'll hope to fit when I replace the Numax.

If you're past my way Ron I'd love to lend you my gadget and electric blanket for field trials, and if it works OK you might enjoy making a similar unit as a project for these dark witner nights. It was a challenge thrown down by Pippin that got me making it. Very simple principle. The assumption is it only needs to be on if the body in bed is threatened with cooling. The electric blanket goes underneath the duvet and has a temp sensor (with adjustable threshold) attached to it. The blanket only comes on if the sensor is triggered. I found, on home trials, it only needed to be on 1/3 of the time on average so that getting through a nights use was no problem at all. If I flick a switch, the sensor/gadget can be used to activate a device only if the temp rises ABOVE a certain threshold. So you can use it with a Peltier coolbox also. These devices are v. inefficient but you can at least extend the period of use if you employ a crude thermostat. Home trails there too were quite encouraging. A low voltage cutoff is included, to ensure you don't run the LB dead flat.

With your electronics background you could make a much neater device than mine (made out of standard motor accessories except for the dedicated sensor assembly).

Can't answer that - haven't checked all makes, I fitted an obscure brand 110ah one for someone, it turned out to be a tad smaller than the Numax, it'd be a matter of suck it & see (not literally of course - before someone misquotes me again ) Check which way around & what type the terminals are too.
