Please don't "cut off" the ball! You won't have anything to bolt the wiper to if you manage to get hold of a replacement arm!
I'd grip the "ball" with a large pair of mole grips, then turn anti-clockwise... stick a large square of old carpet (or similar) onto the tailgate around the wiper flange first in case of a slip with the grips.

Well spotted as usual Mike! Gotta get me some of that!



My rear arm is the standard bongo item, with a moulded "aero" blade from a MK5 Ford fiesta, this fits with a small amount of modification, and looks a bit more modern than the standard bongo blade. The entire Fiesta blade & ARM fits, but won't tighten as the hole in the wiper arm has a larger hole, thus doesn't grip the wiper motor spindle when the securing nut is tightened.
