REMOTE LOCKING
I intend to fit the central locking jobby as soon as we get a warm dry spell, and have just been looking at the fact sheet and didnt see any reference to the fitting of the controller ie. where and how to wire, plus the fact sheet wording is pretty blurred, is there a clearer one any where, I know how to fit the new solenoid and link to existing rod, all help/diagrams will be wellcomed. Re: REMOTE LOCKING
Hi Colin, I recently fitted one of these units, the hardest job was the linkage which required joining the two rods together to give you along enough rod to couple up to the original. After a bit of effing and jeffing I finally managed it with the odd cut on my hands. The control unit I fitted under the dash and ran all cables fom the solonoid through the door grommet to it.
So basically if I can do this anybody can

Bongo no more........... ;-(

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
I have just this minute got in from fitting mine
I bought the kit from Rightclick and got the 2 wire actuator from there to
I have mounted my control unit in the door itself, connected it to a permanent negative that supplies the electric window switch (Solid Black) and the permanent live from the original central locking switch (Blue/Black) these are the only two wires you need if you're not interested in wiring up the indicator/headlights etc, although I did mount a flashing led in the door so it shows me its locked
Im not sure where you got it from Colin but they are easy to wire up, its fitting the actuator thats a pita, I did make my life easier by buying a length of Mild Steel as recommended by another forum member and it's better than joining a couple of the short bars together.

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
Hi ive been doing some research on this for our Bongo.
Scott which one did you buy out of interest? Did you go for a 4 door kit and use one of the actuators or buy the kit with out and buy an extra one to add on.
I want to do it cuse it's a pain to have to keep going round to the drivers door and it will be usefull to have the trunk release when im loading my bike in.

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
I bought just one the remote keyless entry kits (makes no difference which one, they all do the same) and a separate 2 wire actuator.
All the remote kit does is trigger the 2 wire actuator, this then pushes/pulls the rod that is in the drivers door, its exactly the same as you sitting in the vehicle pulling up or pushing down the door button which triggers a switch to lock/unlock the rest of the van
Hope this helps

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
Hi again Colin,
I fitted mine recently and ran the pos and neg from behind the side panel of the dash closest to the drivers door and then behind the panel of the door, bit of tape around the wires and you don't even notice them. Quick and easy (about 15mins max).
Connected the neg to the big metal bar hiding behind the dash (3mm drill and self tapping screw) and the pos to a spare top slot in the fuse box by the drivers knee, had to solder a 2.5 mm connector but got 20 on Ebay for 75p! (willinton leisure battery kit frees up 4 slots). Works a treat!

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
Fitted mine a couple of months ago and wired the control up to the window switch and existing positive feed. Left the control box in the door and no problems so far.
I bought my kit purely on the basis that I like the remote the best. From Ebay and cost a grand total of abuot £25 or so. I have a five wire actuator but was still simple to fit. As mentioned earlier the hardest part is connecting the linkage.

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
I fitted mine the day after it came back from waxoiling so everytime one of the rods (I was joining two together) fell into the bottom of the car it came up caked in the stuff. Was very messy.csmcqueen wrote:and the most painful bit, I have cuts galore now, big hands little working spaceMrU wrote:As mentioned earlier the hardest part is connecting the linkage.![]()
Re: REMOTE LOCKING
I have one question, Mike sent me a spare actuator that he had and just out of curiosity I took it to the garage and tried it on a spare battery that I have got hooked up as I was puzzled with there only being two wires, I wondered how it opened AND closed does the controller reverse the polarity if so I`m thinking that both leads will have to go to the controller wont they ? cheers Colin

Re: REMOTE LOCKING
That's right, you only need to connect two wires, it reverses polarity to open & close - dead simple

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
