Main Rear Door light passenger side
- yr 2000 2.0ltr petrol Bongo.
Hi there, i need to replace the bulb in this light, the main white rear light on the rear door. I've taken the back interior panel off, and removed the nuts on the side of the light. How do i get the light off? do i remove the plastic sheeting on the interior to access the requisite bolt/screw? if so how do i remove it? is it replaceable? thanks! again

Re: Main Rear Door light passenger side
Which light are you reffering to this one ?

If so then you just squeeze the clear plastic front, end to end, and it will pop off (this picture doesn't have the cover on at all as the lamp has been replaced with LED's), the trouble is the 4 little plastic lugs also have a habit of snapping if your too rough with it
You can see where the lugs fit in the picture two little slots at the left and right sides above and below the fixing screws. The bulb is a small festoon type.

Are you sure it's not a retrofit thing? doesn't sound standard to me. Can you put a pic up?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Re: Main Rear Door light passenger side
Methinks it may be the reversing light bulb.

Jaybee, me thinks you could be right!??jaybeeonline wrote:Methinks it may be the reversing light bulb.

But is the reverse light in the tailgate?? I fancy from the pic, the reverse light might share with the indicator, on the clear lower part of the main tail cluster?? Just above the reflector.
The clear bits on the actual tailgate is just window dressing!
In which case, removal should be like the old shapes..!

Hi there,
If it is this then the reversing light would have been retrofitted in the bodywork cluster, unlikely to be in the lamps on the tailgate itelf as the white units here have no bulb holder installed.
If it is this, then you open the tailgate, remove teh 2 screws in the side of the lamp unit and push outwards to release the entire unit. Probably the same as the non facelift.

You may actually be right - I never noticed the indicator and reverse lights like that before

Re: Main Rear Door light passenger side
Are you getting confused with the fog light Andy? The clear lenses on the bodywork (not sure about the tailgate, I thought they were just reflectors) were fitted as reverse lights from the factory.apole wrote:Hi there,

Re: Main Rear Door light passenger side
Hi Kirsty.
Mine is a facelift and unless it's different my reversing light is in the outer clusters and not in the tailgate.
The clear lamps in the tailgate have no light holders in them at all. Some of the red ones do and they are tail lights. Don't have the car with me to double check how many of the red ones have holders and bulbs in.
Hope this helps and hope I'm not confused as I'm getting old now !!!
My foglamp was installed in the offside reversing light cluster to replace a reversing lamp, looks like a new cable has been run from a switch in the dash.
This is why I wanted to upgrade my reversing lights as I only had the one nearside bulb which was like a glow worm.

Re: Main Rear Door light passenger side
I've removed the nuts from the side of the tailgate, and removed the inside panel, i looks like there are more nuts to undo to get the lights off? under the plastic water shield? it just seems like a lot of work to change a bulb!!

Does this help? http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of03.html May be worth dropping Bigdaddycain a pm as he's had a fair bit of messing about fitting a new shape back end on an old shape, so should be able to help.
