Here are some more results from the survey. When asked if the cylinder head had been replaced on your Bongo, 18.3% said yes. This figure excludes those that didn't know.

But if you ask the same question to petrol Bongo owners only, the answer is 1.0%.

People with problems are driven disproportionately to this site. People wishing to report something rather than nothing probably respond in greater numbers too. I'm certain that I don't read anyting like 1:5 on here having had (Bongo) head problems (are you sure the question didn't just ask if 'you had head problems'? )

I don't believe I've heard of more than one petrol Bongo person on here reporting a head problem :?

Its all very strange

hmm - missed the survey somehow . . but I have a v6 petrol and have had overheating problems since I bought it in June last year, culminating in new head (s! x 2 for the v6) - still not resolved despite just about new everything! But yes, I do agree that people with problems will disproportionately post for advice on the forum - like me!!

So........... how many Bongo's are in the UK?........... How many of those are Club members?.....how many of those who are members...completed the survey?........

I had a coolant leak......... my radiator leaked...... I spotted/smelt it before any damage was done and before an alarm I have told me I had lost coolant...... BUT I didn't need a Cylinder Head.... so not one of the unlucky few...

The statistician has his V6 statistics incorrect here. 140 something V6 survey respondents would equate to 1.4 petrol cylinder heads being replaced. An unlikely figure even if they do have two heads. [-X

I think the petrol Bongo answer is 0.6%. :?:

Furthermore the statistics show that 71% of Diesel Bongo owners that have had the slightest coolant problem have had a new head fitted. 209 heads fitted from 292 coolant problems.

But as said previously statistics and lies..............

Once the "Don't Knows" were excluded, there were 101 petrol owners left. Of these, 1 had a cylinder head replaced.

Bit of context

5000 forum members of which 1280 responded. A 25% response rate ain't too bad!, if you apply the stats back against those people that could have responded but didn't then it ain't all bad news. i.e. assume that if people didn't respond then they are less likely to have had major issues?

Again, the "Don't Knows" have been excluded. The actual number of replacement heads was 119; 86 replaced by current owners, 33 replaced by previous owner or dealer.
