Fuel Gauge Problems.

Post by gmaczbongo » Wed Mar 17, 2010 6:28 pm

I have just repaired the fuel gauge system, normal problem on the top of the tank.
The gauge is now reading all the time, even when the ignition is off.
It seems to be reading correct levels.
Is this normal for the Bongo, I never noticed when the gauge was working previously.
There must be a permanent live wire at the sender for this to happen.
Thanks for any help.

unless you disconnected the sender and reattached the earth to the other spade in which case it would read full all the time also. not saying you have but its a possibility.

Thanks for the replies.
I had a feeling that the bongo would be different.
To repair the problem, I took out one of the screws from the top of the tank and connected a wire to it using a wee blue earth connector.
The other end of the wire just needed to be connected to any earth and I used the seat post and a yellow(bigger than blue) earth connector.
All the wiring on the top of the tank was clean.
Now dodgy horn and fog lights next.
Spring warmth has finally arrived. =D>
