Remove the engine pre-heat system?

Post by stevejt » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:52 am

I have a new stainless exhaust to fit and noticed that the existing exhaust has a tube connected on to it roughly underneath the sliding door. I'm guessing that this is part of the engine pre-heat system. My question is can I just disconnect and blank off / fold over the tube connected to the old exhaust and are there any more things to consider - in my search on the forum I read something about a rotating flap?

Typical, it's been dry for about 10 days and the day I planned to do this (today) it's raining, I'll have to hide the exhaust under the bed so the mrs will stop complaining about it being in the kitchen.

Yes, it sounds like you have a valve in the exhaust which is operated via a switch on the dash and allows the exhaust gases to warm things up more quickly.
I've searched on the forum and the best I could find on the job itself are HERE and HERE.
The related parts are shown on THIS LINK and THIS LINK.

She should live here, my house is often overloaded with hubby's stuff!

Thanks very much for that. I've noticed some people seem to have the forum searching sussed. I tried what I thought were lots of combo's but could not come up with what you found - much appreciated.

If I manage to remove the valve in tact maybe I can return the karma and offer it in the free stuff section, not sure if anyone would want it but you never know.

Have you read the Guidance section on how to use the search facility? - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =42&t=6587
