Hi all,
Just fitted my bongo with a rather beasty 110ah LB!
Was wondering whether or not i need to replace the cables connecting the LB to the ciggy lighter? I've heard that they're thin, low rated cables and am not sure whether or not they can withstand too higher load... What is the rating for the fuse connected to it?
I'm hoping to connect a 12v-240v ac converter to it, then run normal 3amp fused houshold appliances... is this advisable? I don't want to run into a situation where I'm constantly blowing fuses. Or worse - melting wires!
Thanks!
Marcus

Re: Cable rating for the ciggy lighter
There currently fused at 15 Amp, top row far right. Most sockets are rated for a rather excessive 10 Amps, at which they will get very hot!!
The wiring isn't excessive in size either so its quite likely you will get a significant voltage drop to the rear one, unless you uprate it.

Re: Cable rating for the ciggy lighter
As geoff says, the rear socket will suffer badly from voltage drop. I cant say exactly, but I would be surprised if the cable was more than 10A. If I upgrade the rear during a conversion I usually wire it in 17A, but to my PMS unit which is only a few ft away.
