Not a lot I can do from here Baz, you're nearly 3 hours away, & I've got no spare hoses. Universal hoses that AA etc should carry should do the job,
Bleeding instructions here

Drain plugs are drivers side bottom of Rad.....Or just release the bottom hose..
Holds 13 ltr's (suggest 40% antifreeze)
Bongo BLEEDING Instructions (use yourself or INSIST your garage follows them)




NOTE.. (Before you start) Get a large funnel and cut the spout so the bleed tube will push up into it nice and tight.. Don't take the bung out of the pipe yet.

1..remove the plastic air scoop from under the bonnet.
2..remove the pressure cap off the expansion tank.
3..remove the pressure cap from the rad and fill to brim if it is not already full.
4..replace rad cap.
5..fill the expansion tank to the FULL line.
6..release the rad cap till coolant overflows and tighten rad cap.
7..top up expansion tank to FULL
8..under the passenger seat ..find the coolant bleed tube...remove the bung and push up into funnel.
9..half fill the funnel with premixed coolant.

Note..by raising/lowering the funnel and adjusting the engine revs you will from now on be able to control the level of the coolant in the header tank & funnel.
At no point from now on allow the funnel to empty or the header tank to drop below FILL.

10..start the engine...switch on heaters.....rev to 2500 for 3 mins....idle for 1 min.
11..keep repeating this cycle until the heaters blow hot and switch the heaters off.
12..carry on with the rev 2500/idle cycle..raising and lowering the funnel...you will have to do this for about 30/40 mins.....UNTILL THE BOTTOM HOSE GETS GOOD AND WARM..(stat open).

Once this happens carry on till all bubbles stop and replace the bleed tube bung (wear gloves..very hot)put the bung in as coolant is flowing out so no air can sneak in.

Top up the tank...replace the tank cap.....go for a drive and keep a eye on coolant levels for a few days....should be o.k. If job was done properly.

THE SECRET IS TO GET THE BOTTOM HOSE HOT WHILST BLEEDING (STAT OPEN)

Jus been on the phone to Baz...

I have a couple of band sessions down Cheddar.. & was trying Bell hill for the part.. ( I live not far away!) But they was shut at noon! Then the plan was to run it to Minehead after band stuff...?!!

I saw this post at 12.45!

So, now i'm thinking maybe Simon Jones has a spare top hose??
Maybe get a relay going that way?? I have another band session tomorrow after work in Cheddar & get it down to Minehead that way!

If any one can turn him on to this thread? & he has the part? we may be in business fer Baz???

I meant dimensions, if its a emergancy replacement I need to know what to get

According to one of Flippa's posts, top hose internal diameter is 35mm,
& this may help in pinpointing what you need

You can get somthing called flexihose......bends to any shape and dispite what some peeps say can be a permanant soloution.....I carry a 1 meter length which will replace any 2 of the big 4 hoses.....Kit car builders use the stuff all the time.

OK, after speaking to Baz... Its the hose that goes from the rad & dips down by & under the fuse box under the bonnet.. From what i remember of the conversation with Baz, it was spraying coolant over the fuse box.?

Max; i have made a mistake about my whereabouts I actually have a band session in of all places Gloucester tomorrow (Sunday)

I still stand by what i say & if I can score said hose, have it down to Baz by midnight Sunday!!
