corner guide

the corner guide doesnt work, and its in the up position, when i flick the switch a whirring noise can be heard, so im guessing the motor is ok, any ideas? i havent played about with it yet, i dont want to snap it or be left with a hole in the bumper,

Mine to,it used to go up and down,

now i dont try it any more,but did read on here about a plastic sleave?but how would i repair it??

try a dose of wd 40

I was told that it would fail an mot with corner guide . . . Is it not true then ?
