Speedo/Odometer Query

Post by Truant » Tue Apr 06, 2010 7:05 pm

Hi All,
Quick query regarding my current speedo/odometer!

Think I have an original unit that has been chipped (it has a sticker saying MPH on the bottom and goes up to 180 (in my dreams!). I spend quite a lot of time driving it on the continent so having the speedo also in KM/H would be handy. Like a fool I rushed in and purchased a replacement face like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-BONGO-FORD- ... 4839b030c8

Now looking at it I realise there is a bit of a problem. If I fit it without removing the trip it will read all wrong. If I remove the chip the speed will be correct but am I right in thinking my odometer will then read KM/H?

Is there any other option I have so that I can see both KM/H and MP/H and have the odometer read in miles?
Any help appreciated!
Cheers

I normally just set the units on my sat nav to kilometers which helps for a quick reference to speed when on the continent..
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Probably a dumb question but any idea where I would get my hands on a 626 speedo?

Breakers, ebay etc.

Yes the odometer will turn over in kilometres while the face reads miles and kilometres. That's the same set up mine has and I find it works well, and with the sat nav as jaylee said.

Make sure it's a GA5R, not sure if it's got km/h on it though?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
