The diff noise has been checked out

Post by bongomadness » Tue Apr 06, 2010 4:48 pm

After my last post about the whining noise I decided to get it checked out at the local garage and the mystery whine is the front diff (i had an incling it was). Apparently this noise can go on for years but obviously we will be getting it sorted after the Merley meet....................Does anyone know if it is a pricey job???? I do hope not :(

Our rear axil had a whine went on for about 18 months before it went bang. We got a replacement from online scrap yard. Paid £150 i think ror complete rear axil. Been on now for 18 months no probs. Might be worth trying one of them. Go for cheapest as long as it has guarantee they are all as it is a bit of a lottery.

As easy as that....... ?????? Would that cure the problem ?????? Also I am going to drain the oil from diff first and refill ...just in case it is running a bit dry. Would that be a quick cure do you think

Hi,
If you are changing the oil it might be worth while adding some Forte or Wynns :) :) .

There's a factsheet in the members area on how to do it, although I think that may be permanent removal? but it may help.

No Simonhe doesnt  ....but he is looking out for one for me. I think we are going for the 2wd option for now, plus we may save a bit on fuel.
