Piston rings wouldn't have been changed at the same time as the head as a matter of course.

To change the rings means a partial bottom-end strip and rebuild. You'd have been charged for that work in addition to the head, so you should know if they have been done.

Thanks Dave

The work was done before I purchased by the dealer - so I wasn't charged for anything. Obviously I would know if i had paid for it!

I asked the dealer a number of times for a complete list of work carried out - and didn't get it - so need to pester again.

You don't expect the smoke and oil loss when the rings have been changed, see what the garage says.

you may notice a difference if you use 5w 30 oil semi synthetic
