tailgate tale

Post by Northern Bongolow » Wed Apr 28, 2010 1:10 am

my tailgate has recently started to rub at the catch when opening and closing, and even worse it constantly squeeks whilst driving
no car park damage could be found, although i do have a tow bar fitted.looking from the rear the left hand tailgate to bumper gap seems smaller than the other
after a chat with my weymouth friend the only thing we could think of is that the last owner had maybe misused the towbar and bent the towbar and the floor [-o<
then last night sitting in the garden having a late night fag,it dawned on me  3 weeks ago i had ditched the spacesaver wheel and replaced it with a full sized one,and doing so had wound it tightly up to the underside,as the spare is mounted to the left of centre it has pulled the floor up,with the spring preasure against the floor/tyre.
loosened of ratchet 1 turn and the gap now even again, and no squeek!! :D

lesson, let the wife put the spare wheel on,she may do it right.

Blimey - who'd have thought that could happen. A useful bit of info for future reference. Meanwhile you need to start getting a little less fit Ady - no chance of me overtightening mine

Might prove to be expensive Ady. You may have to send her on a body building course first.

to be fair kirsty i think the tow bar may have been abused to it is tight in the mounts so as you suggest i will put it on the list. =D>
