I'm trying not to replicate information on another thread.
But basically 50% of the time it starts fine and 50% of the time you have to turn it over for 30 seconds solid
before it splutters into life. Its had 4 new glowplugs and a diesel pump front seal. The fusable link and the glowplug relay seam to be fine. I'm sick off guessing and I just want somebody to tell me what the problem is.

Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
what year is it? we had a 2002 model that had similar symptoms and it was a unit on the side of the fuel pump (http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html) part number 24-0902, vehicle was a pig to start and would lose power, we sat 2 cars side by side and swapped out units til we found what made a difference and it was this unit that solved the issue, may not be the same but a pointer for someone to look at? have you tried running the car without the fuel cap on? in case you have a blocked tank breather?

We were hoping to find another Bongo member in berrega's area, so he could have a try at swapping parts or get more 'hands on' help, but so far we haven't heard anything... it's possible that they haven't seen his posts.
(He has spent a fortune on this so far.)
Berrega... I wonder if it might be worthwhile for you to post in the forum for your local area (Midlands?), putting a link to this post, and asking if anyone could volunteer to help. It might be worth a try.

Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
Its a 2000. It runs fine when its going. And it starts fine on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Its just Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays it has problems. I've started plotting the days it doesn't start on Graph to try and use logical deduction to try and work it out...
Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
But it does have the later type diesel pump doesn't it?It's a year 2000

Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
Ok scrap the electrician, it looks like an air leak after all.
Today it woudln't start, and I looked and noticed that the fuel had run backout of the fuel pump into the fuel filter.
So air is getting in an causing an air lock.
So presumably somehow I have to work out where it is comming from.
There is a dark cylinder which sticks out the side of my pump,
the underneath of that is wet and oily. If this is a diesel leak could this be the source of my problem?

If the fluid is clear and smells of diesel, it's diesel. If it's black and smells of oil, it's oil and could be blowing there from elsewhere. To help us to work it out, can you show us the 'dark cylinder' on one of the diagrams? SEE THIS LISTThere is a dark cylinder which sticks out the side of my pump,

Two of the common reasons for fuel running back are either a loose fuel filter or a fault with the filter housing. You can bypass the filter housing with a pipe and if the problem goes, you know it's caused by the filter housing.

Wow thanks.
I have a feeling I'm finally getting to the bottom of this?
I guess I'll see pretty soon...

Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
If I conect the fuel tank to directly the dielsel pump that still leaves the over flow pipe from the dielsel pump.
Do I leave this connected to the fuel filter, and connect the 'I'n and 'out' of the fuel filter together?
Doesn't this result in a build up of pressure within the fuel filter?

Allan (my husband) has been talking to you about this and says he has now got back to you to explain how to bypass the filter.

Re: Bongo aware mobile Auto electrician?
Shouldn't be a return to the fuel filter, the return should go back to the tank
